The mid class supermini vehicle known as the Ford Fiesta was designed and constructed by the European branch of the Ford Motor Company. In addition to the European market, the Ford Fiesta is also available in Venezuela, Brazil, China, Mexico, South Africa, and India.
Currently, the Ford Fiesta is marketed around the world, including the Australian and Japanese markets. The vehicle was only briefly made available in the United States of America and Canada, however.

The history of the Ford Fiesta goes back to the early 1970s, whereupon demand in Europe for supermini vehicles was beginning to rise. Medium sized cars like the Ford Cortina, which was constructed in the United Kingdom, were conventional rear wheel drive vehicles. But competition was arising as tiny cars such as the Renault 5 and Fiat 127 were gaining in popularity. Thus, a new model called the Bobcat was created. 2009 Ford Fiesta European details and pricing announced
Ford’s new three-door and five-door Fiesta will roll off the production lines in Europe later this summer and will arrive in Asia, South Africa, Australia and the Americas by 2010. For the 2009 model year Ford added an all-new ‘Zetec S’ to the European model range that also includes Style, Style Plus, Zetec and Titanium.
The new 2009 Ford Fiesta range includes four 16-valve Duratec petrol engine and two Duratorq TDCi diesel engines. The first three of the four gasoline models include a 1.25 and 1.4 liter engine ranging from 60-hp to 95-hp. The range-topping gasoline Zetec S is powered by a 1.6 liter Duratec Ti-VCT that produces 118-hp with the ability to go from 0-62 in 9.9 seconds. Fuel economy comes in at 40mpg. The Duratorq TDCi’s range from a 1.4L engine to a 1.6L.
According to Auto Motor und Sport , the 2009 Ford Fiesta starts at 11,250 Euros ($17,923). U.S. specs and details will be announced closer to launch date.

Coming to the specifications of the Ford Fiesta Hatchback, the international version features a new 1.6 liter Ti-VCT engine that produces 114 horsepower and the 67 horsepower Duratorq TDCi diesel apart from three more engine options. If Ford does launch the car in India, expect both the 100 Bhp petrol engine and the TDCI diesel engine to be shoehorned into the Fiesta Hatchback’s engine bay.
